Joey started tutoring me when I was in 8th grade, and I worked with him through my sophomore year of high school. Back when Joey started working with me, I hated math and had absolutely zero desire to learn anything. I was a very rowdy tween and did everything I could to get him to give up on teaching me geometry, but Joey had the patience to sit through my complaining and actually managed to engage me with the material. His love of math is contagious, and over the years I worked with him I started to love math too. As a tutor, he never made me feel stupid for not understanding something, and he made the material super clear and easy to digest. If not for Joey, I probably never would have discovered how truly enjoyable math can be, and then I never would have discovered my passion for economics -- a field that is heavily based in multivariable calculus. Now, I am the proud holder of a bachelor's degree in economics from Stanford University, and in many ways, I have Joey to thank for that.

Joey was an incredible tutor when I was a senior in high school. I really struggled through the first couple of months of AP Calculus but once I started tutoring sessions with Joey, I started to feel much more comfortable with the material and my performance skyrocketed. He is patient, methodical, and never makes a student feel ‘dumb’ for not knowing an answer. He took the time to teach me how to think about approaching difficult problems rather than just scrambling for the answer. With Joey’s help, I felt well prepared to take Multivariable Calculus my freshman year of college.

Common advice given to me is to do math with a friend. Mr. Bianchi was just the friend I needed. He never assumed that I remembered all the many years of math lessons. Thus, Mr. Bianchi broke concepts into smaller steps and connected concepts, which deepened my understanding and made me feel comfortable asking questions. If not math, I constantly found myself learning about the world through casual conversations, which were at times humorous. It was like learning from a fellow peer.

Joey was such an amazing tutor who helped me immensely throughout high school. He was very patient with me when explaining concepts, always had thorough explanations, and as one of his students I can assure you that tutoring is a big passion of his. I have referred him to many friends/family of mine, and all have had extremely positive experiences.

…he would first instruct the class by giving us a few examples, then for the remainder of the class, he would let the students collaborate together on the remaining problems. His [students] were able to practice working cooperatively and put their problem-solving abilities to the test.

Joey taught me geometry in 9th grade. Most students in my grade struggled with geometry because of the proofs and new concepts. While I usually did not enjoy math classes, Joey made learning exciting and engaging with interactive activities, such as Kahoot and solving problems with teams. I received an A grade in his class, which is higher than any math grade I had before, because of Joey’s clear explanations and teaching style.
